Coagulase positive -Staphylococci

DEFINITION:

Coagulase positive staphylococci are opportunistic pathogen carrying various mechanisms of resistance that have a large number of virulence factors, and whose ability to induce  illness is associated with the host. 

(Ex) : Staphylococcus aureus,S.intermedius ,S.pseudentermidius, S.delphini,etc

Coagulase negative - Staphylococci

DEFINITION:

Coagulase negative –Staphylococci are an important part of normal skin microbiota,and they also colonise mucous membranes in adults and children from a few weeks of age.

(EX):Staphylococcus epidermidis, s.saprophyticus ,s.warneri,etc
